Did any one notice that lindill is the only one of reah mates so far that have actually proposed aka said the words. Auri bought the ring but just put it on her finger. Tory is different high demon. Teeg was forced or as some one pointed out did the forcing of marriage. And wylend is in the courting stage his words but he did say at the end of the book that reah could not get out of being conscripted by marrying royalty ( he hinted he did not actually propose).

Ha, that's true. It is ironic that the potential mate she fears and currently loathes the most is the one that proposed. However, Wylend still has a chance coming up. He is still in courting stage. Same with Ry, he has been hanging back so far. Lendill has a alot of make up to do before I consider him worth Reah. He better not try to threaten her into a marriage (part of a cover, etc). ARGH!

Yeah - I am not giving Lendill much credit for the proposition (ok, a little, but very little), because I think it is selfishly based -- ie: he doesn't want to f--- up (as per his dad) and he doesn't want to be miserable. He does not LOVE her. Love is patient, kind, self-sacrificing, not self-serving. I think he sees the proposal/marriage as a way to short cut into her life. He's an idiot. And no, I'm not hijacking into Lendill bashing, it just goes along with what I think of his proposal (not much).

Another reason that I separate out matable from love. They don't go together necessarily.

I totally agree with you, Perualpaca. It frustrates me that just because they have the mate bond (can't remember how to spell mi'fiyah?) its like they don't have to spend time wooing their mate - so far the men seem consistent in this! I admit that part of me doesn't want Reah to forgive Lendill as this perpetuates the theory that they can treat the women any way they want and STILL get them!!!

One last thing, even though Lendill is the only one to have proposed he is also the only one to have deliberately and ruthlessly placed Reah in a position of danger.

We don't know Lendill's story, he might become the most protective and loving of mates. But I hope that Reah never accepts him. What he did to her at the beginning of Demon Revealed was assault and I don't see how she could ever forgive him.

Everyone knows I am not a proponent for Lendill, but I am going to play Devil's Advocate here.

One of the requirements of high level governmental service is the ability to check your feelings at the door ... you don't have to like it, you just have to do it. Lendill could (if one was generous) be compared to Gavin in Blood Wager, putting the job before personal feelings.

Another is the ban on relations with a subordinates.

We need look at this from different point of view -

1) Just because Lendill has a M'Fyiah and proposed is he a mate until Reah accepts him?
2) If not can he redeem himself in Reah's eyes / opinion?

Lendill may have feelings for Reah but until he is free to act upon them he needs to, at least, stop following Norian's example.
