I'm confused. In the beginning of the book, Lissa writes in her journal that she recognized Ashe, but the Mighty Mind was unfamiliar to her. At the end, Charles is revealed to be the Mighty Mind. Surely Lissa would recognize Charles. What am I missing? Admittedly, I devoured the new book and am rereading it now, but a little help with this would be nice. Thank you.

Charles was the disguise that the Mind was using. As the Three are some of the most powerful around, they are able to disguise themselves in such a way that even the Godlings like Lissa can't see through them. Yes, Lissa would recognise Charles, but she wouldn't be able to see that the Charles persona wasn't real, that it was merely a cover for someone else. Hope I explained that ok. As I remember, at the moment that Charles, Bree and Ashe were all drawn together, Charles dropped his disguise the moment that they all formed as the One. This is the Mind we are talking about, he probably knew from a very early age what was going on and could have adopted the Charles disguise then. I suppose an alternative is that Charles and the Mind disguised as Charles are two separate beings. Personally I hope for the latter otherwise it would mean that all of the wrong Charles witnessed, to Lissa and to others, could have been prevented and he didn't. Time will tell I suppose.

I'm having trouble with the Three forming into the One at the moment. The problem i'm having is that I do not see any reason why they can't separate again. We already know that the Three were destined to work together, well this could well be that "together", literally. We are all putting stock in the reactions of other characters in the book, but, when you think about it they know as little about the natures of the one and the Three as we do and nothing so far has indicated that this is a permanent change. No one, including Belen has anything more to go on than the rumours and legends passed down the ages as to what the Three can and can't do. Granted Belen is possibly the most informed but even he doesn't know if this is a permanent thing. Remember the last words of Charles. He said it "was and wasn't" time for him to reveal himself. That in no way indicates that this was not on the cards. Bree has 20 mates, surely the love of all those mates would be enough to pull her free of the merging. Ashe has Kay and vast strength... Charles has knowledge and understanding. I don't know, maybe it is wishful thinking on my part but the whole idea of this being a permanent thing doesn't make any sense to me at all. I fully expect them to just separate and reform as individuals.

Again, so many questions and so few answers :S

I had to re-read the last few pages to make sure I was getting every nuance of Connie's words... WOW it definitely blew me away.

After this last installment it's hard to even guess where Connie will take us next.

Connie, you are a masterful story teller. Thank you for all these great books.

Now the wait begins again...

Got it on my mind to change my ways, but I don't think I can be anything other than me.

So, how many have noticed that Saxom spelled backwards is Moxas? Neat twist huh?

Reading is a gift to yourself that you can share with everyone.

@Larry -- LOL that was one of my brain benders in this book. The first few times my subconscious noticed, but I didn't get it. Finally it clicked after several mentions. And it totally had me laughing - twins and all that. :)
