Didn't Devril San gerxson die before the high demons books? I know he was mentioned in the short about Glinda and Erland. I thought he died that is how his brother Avril took over on Campiaa. The twin warlocks could be from the past and haven't got together with Cayetes... Like Norian and Lendell in Cloud Rebel. I didn't like Lexi's character she seemed a bit confused and didn't see the bad guys plans or actions and was always comparing herself with her mom and grandmother. It just put my off the book and I love connie's books.

Actually that makes sense, their in the past part, before Dervil was killed. It's what makes it so confusing, the past and future timeline etc...

As for her doubts and living in her parent's shadow, I didn't mind it all that much, I'm sure she will outgrow it as the series continues. It was actually rather refreshing to me, the first female character that didn't come from an abused background.

I also did not mind that Lexsi had doubts. She is twenty something and seemed to have a somewhat sheltered life before. This is her first job and at times she is confident and then sometimes she is not. I actually liked the references to her mother and grandmother -- it made her more part of the overall story. She is very much out of her element being on earth, but finds a group of friends that help her with figuring out what is wrong.

With the timeline, Laurel and Jamie celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary -- Does that help? I have not reread the God War series in a long time so I don't know if it mentioned how long they were married then.

Lexsi's father (Tory - correct?) still seems to be very prejudice person. Her references to the fact that he did not really like humans-- they are not immortal.

Also Kory was in the army on Kifirin for 600 years. (I have not reread to that part in the book yet so I can't quote it). it seems that the longer you can live, the longer the mandatory service is.

I really like Kory in this story. He makes mistakes but then realize that he is in the wrong or was too sharp to Lexsi and tries to tell her he is sorry (the flowers, etc) So different from Tory's and Reah's interactions.

JeanneM, I did miss that reference, but I don't think anything was mentioned in GW's about how long they had been married. I may go back and re-read those books just to see if I can find something.

The 35 year anniversary information definitely helps show the upper limits of the timeline. Bree's timeline in SF was 2012-2014; Laurel and Jamie weren't represented as newlyweds, so lets say they were married for like 5 years at the time 2012 + 30 = 2042, so the window would be 2031 -2042.

To make Davis (Jr) and Thomas (III) respectable ages as an FBI agents, I would lean towards the latter end of the window around 2040 or so.

Got it on my mind to change my ways, but I don't think I can be anything other than me.

I enjoyed the supporting female characters Anita and Farin. I loved that Anita was so different to others of her race that we have met, and that she was such a good friend and support to Lexsi. Farin was a loveable lightweight, but I think that was needed for the story; I'm almost hoping that she may turn out to be some kind of fairy creature, Perhaps a weather elemental. I'll have to re-read to see if it is stated that she is human.

JD, thanks for the Tiny Car pic. We call them Smart Cars here in the UK, and they need making indestructible as they just don't look very strong.

Finished re-reading The God Wars series last night, and nowhere did I pick up how long Jamie and Laurel Rome had been married, but got the impression it had been a few years.

I'm now going to go back and read Hot Demon again then I can make more sense of the things I missed on the first read through. I do agree about it being nice having a female who hasn't spent her life being beaten.
