Its been more than 24 hours so here are my initial thoughts when I don't have the book in front of me.

Does anyone else wonder if these are the events that lead up to the warlock twins working with Cayetes? And I wonder if Dervil is the warlock in the casket or if it is another ancestor.
I did like how Bree and Hank maneuvered them into getting to know each other when Lexsi didn't want to marry someone she didn't know.
Looks like Lexsi is going to be another super powerful female. She is the only one of her sisters known to turn into Thifilatha and she has Lessa's ability to mist and bring others with her.
I wonder how Laurel got hooked up with the warlocks and turned against the Romes. Must have been money, she was always obsessed with money. I guess Momma Rome never returned from Avendor but Jamie did? That seems unusual.
And there is now a "good" Sirenali on Earth, one who uses her powers of obsession similarly to the way vampires use compulsion? I wonder if she is one of the sisters of the only other female Sirenali that we met.
Does anyone else think that the "boss" that Davis and Thomas were talking to is going to turn out to be Opal?

Once again, a great story with lots of re-read potential.

Well I'm not surprised Lexsi can transform. The mist took me by surprise but it makes sense.

My own theory, which I thought was mentioned as a possibility in Reah's series, is most females don't transform because they are coddled and kept out of danger. It's danger, anger, etc... that brings it out. Even Reah with the danger she was in didn't transform until the Raak came out and set off the instincts. In Lexsi's case it was the danger of being burned to death in an explosion. She isn't a special snowflake so much as the only one of them that struck out on her own and got in a dangerous situation. Admittedly that's just speculation, but I think they could all do it if they weren't kept in bubble wrap.

Indestructible tinycar.... just... awesome and kind of funny.

I liked the balance of self doubt/living in her mother's/grandmother's shadow verse her competence. Looking forward to book two, maybe she'll be a bit more confident after what she accomplished.

It was also good to see a sireneli that was free and not a bad guy.

It surprised me at first she had no idea who Aunt Bree really was, not to mention Lissa and her own mother, but after thinking about it for a while it made sense.

Not sure about cayetes? It's hard to place on the timeline for me, maybe someone else can do it? I would guess after the god wars both in the "Past" and "Future" but in relation to RD and First ordinance... I think I'm getting a headache ;)

I loved the book, it certainly lived up to all the teaser snippets we had; but, I kept wondering all through it - how on (insert appropriate planet name) did Reah agree to Lexsi being engaged as a child, and why would her non-high demon family (except Aunt Bree) be forcing her to go through with it? I expect that there is a lot of back story that we may see in a later book.

Wow!
thoughts:

I love Connie's stories greatly, they usually make good sense, but the start of this book make's wonder what she was thinking. Why in all that is holy would Reah allow the only daughter that she got to raise be put into an arranged marriage? Granted Tory probably took the side of the High Demon's on this, but I have to believe that Reah would have told all of them to "Af te Jufaleh"
- just saying... (maybe we will get some more backstory later that can try to justify it)

Okay, it looks like timeline wise, the Latter Day Demon (LDD) starts about 2-3 years after Blackwing (the wedding) and fits in somewhere after 2031 in the past (around Star Cove time or later to RD or beyond). This theory is based on Lexsi's age (23) and the minimum age (21) for Davis Stone Jr. to be part of the FBI. (assuming that Davis Jr was born a year after Davis Sr took the Boise Pack). I wonder how Davis Jr. ended up a part of the Salt Lake city pack? Maybe necessary for the FBI job ?

So we have rouge Rome's (well at least Laurel) with a trio of rouge Karathian Warlocks Deris, Daris and Dervil. Deris and Daris are from "Blackwing" so how did they get in the past? if Davis Jr. is really young during this time, the rouge godling Calhoun would still be active in the past. Breanne didn't kill him until the end of the "Destroyer" though with the timelines being re-written it could be a little later. Connie's many timelines, just hurts my head sometimes Grrrrrrr!

And who is Dervil and how does he fit in? could this be Cayetes after the RD drug was used on him? or just a another Arden black sheep relative?

we got 10 missing drug lords and now a rouge country in South America and a promise of riches from the rouge Warlocks.... can we say Drakus seed?

I thought the indestructible Tinycar was a great addition though maybe hard to explain after the SUV was totaled when it hit it. - moral of the story - don't dis the Tinycar :-)

another great book though. Thanks Connie!

Got it on my mind to change my ways, but I don't think I can be anything other than me.

Reah is a strong character in that she perseveres, and her enemies need to beware.

As far as her allies/friends she is the weakest character Connie has ever written. If you remember she totally caved to pressure to bring her newest baby to Kifirin despite her mistrust and reservations. That's only the latest thing she's buckled under, clearly the history is there.

I'm not surprised at all she would cave to pressure from her family, goddess or not.

I think Bree and Hank had the right idea though, let them get to know each other so the relationship has meaning, and also throw her into a dangerous situation so Lexsi can both grow into her strength, and take care of a problem of more timeline meddling. Sorta a lot of birds, one stone.

Hi everyone, don't you just love Connies books.

Hot Demon was great as usual, but I'm now very confused with the timeline, though no doubt future books in the series will put me straight.

I agree with the comment about Drakus Seed being grown in Peru, mainly because it makes sense. I also think the DSG Corporation who own the new bar, stands for Divil San Gerxon and Divil is who Watson? meant when he said Granger was 'in with the devil'.

Looking forward to seeing Laurel get her comeuppance. I really hate that woman, even more than I hate Kifirin, and Gardevik.
